Rue Franklin is an artist studio rooted in abstract painting and shaped by a life lived creatively.

Founded by Mary, a self-taught Irish artist now based in Washington, DC, the studio is a space where art meets the rhythms of everyday living. Paintings begin here, but they are only part of the story.

Working primarily with acrylic and spray paint, Mary builds each piece slowly, layering colour, movement, and instinct until the work settles into its own visual language. The result is expressive, modern abstraction designed to live easily within a home.

Originally from County Cork, Mary has lived in Dublin, London, Lyon, and now Washington. That shifting perspective continues to inform her work. Sometimes insider, sometimes observer, always searching for the quiet threads that connect place, memory, and belonging.

Rue Franklin extends beyond the canvas. It reflects a wider creative life shaped by hosting, cooking, styling spaces, collecting objects, trying new hobbies, and finding beauty in the everyday.
